Every year on February 2nd (Groundhog Day), news outlets all over the Southeast look to a small groundhog in Gwinnett for his much-valued weather prediction. General Beauregard Lee is Georgia’s official weather prognosticator and he calls Gwinnett County home. Beau lives at the Yellow River Game Ranch in Lilburn and this Saturday will be his big day. Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau has once again partnered with Yellow River Game Ranch for the event.
Waffle House will be on-hand this Saturday, February 2nd with hot chocolate and coffee. Chopper, Gwinnett Braves groundhog mascot, will be there for pictures and all media professionals are invited to a complimentary self-guided walking tour of the Yellow River Game Ranch at 8:15AM. The Yellow River Game Ranch, Georgia’s oldest animal preserve, is now celebrating its 51st year of providing children and adults a ‘nose to nose’ experience with wildlife. The preserve has over six hundred animals and birds. The Game Ranch is open seven days a week except for certain holidays, 10:00AM to 5:00PM, with the last ticket sold at 4PM.
