Weekend Events Quick-list

Here is a quick list of things to do this weekend. Visit www.gcvb.org for a complete listing of Gwinnett events.

-Visit Corn Dawgs corn maze in Loganville. The corn maze is not the only fun activity at Corn Dawgs. They have 15 attractions including a hay ride, duck races, mountain slide and a hay jump! Visit their website for plenty of pictures. Great family fun!

-Aurora Theatre presents “Buy My House Please”, a modern comedy about a young couple going through what many Americans are facing at this very moment. Aurora Theatre also offers a “Football Widows” special (LOVE IT!). Women can get lunch at McCray’s Tavern followed by a matinee show of “Buy My House Please”.

-Tonight the Gwinnett Gladiators take on the Charlotte Checkers at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Take advantage of their Friendly Fridays deal tonight (which is friendly on the pockets, too). Get a child’s ticket AND a meal for $15 or an adult’s ticket AND a meal for $20!

-PugFest is an annual fundraiser held the last weekend in October by the Southeast Pug Rescue & Adoption Association (SERPA) at Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. Event festivities include dog contests, raffles, auctions, live music, food and vendors. This animal friendly event invites you to bring pets to enjoy the event also!

-Chocolate Perks in downtown Duluth is hosting a Wine and Chocolate tasting event Saturday night. Taste 2 Italian wines and 2 French wines, each will be paired with delicious chocolates.

-37th Annual Highland Games: October 16-18, 2009 at Stone Mountain Park. Never been to a Highland Games Festival? Think, Scottish festival filled with bagpipers, falconry, Scottish dancing and children’s games including a soccer shootout, scavenger hunt and the sheaf toss.

-Duluth Flicks on the Bricks: Friday, October 16, 2009 at the Duluth Town Green. See the children’s movie “Igor”. Bring chairs and blankets!

-9th Annual Sugar Hill Fall Festival: October 17, 2009 at E.E. Robinson Park. Your family will enjoy arts and crafts vendors, a petting zoo, a Chili Cook-off and more!

-Atlanta Turkish Festival: October 17-18, 2009 at Gwinnett Center. Celebrate the culture and tradition of Turkey!

-Gwinnett Gladiators Opening Weekend! October 17-18, 2009 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center! ECHL professional hockey at its finest! GO GLADS!

24th Annual Tour of Southern Ghosts

This Halloween season celebrates the 24th year of the Tour of Southern Ghosts presented by ART Station at Stone Mountain Park. 

“A Tour of Southern Ghosts” is a storytelling festival that showcases the best ghost stories from the South. For 11 nights this fall, some 15,000 visitors will be guided on a lantern-lit tour of yesteryear vividly brought to life through the grand tradition of Southern storytelling.

Tours take place Thursday-Sunday through October 31. Thursdays and Sundays tours go from 7pm-9pm and Fridays and Saturdays tours go from 7pm-9:30pm.  Tours leave every 10 minutes and tickets are sold at the box office at the Antebellum Plantation at Stone Mountain Park. Halloween Countdown

Gwinnett has quite a few Halloween activities to offer trick-or-treaters of all ages!

Netherworld- The award-winning haunted house located near I-85 and the Georgia Antique Depot in Norcross promises to give you spine-tingling chills! Visit www.fearworld.com for prices, dates and directions.
Stadium of Screams- Gwinnett Stadium has been transformed into three terrifying attractions Corridor of Horror, Tunnel of Terror and Concourse of Characters. A PG scary movie is played at 7:30pm each night and a PG-13 scary movie is played each night at 9:30pm. See website, www.stadiumofscreams.com for dates, times and admission prices.

Trail of Terror- Don’t be afraid of the woods, be afraid of what’s in them! Suwanee’s a little more frightening this Halloween season. Take the Trail of Terror outdoors through the woods.
